About Us

Our history...

Red Oaks Carpentry are a small and friendly, professional carpentry & joinery service for domestic and commercial customers.

The business today is owned by qualified carpenter and sole trader, Dean McGhee.

Dean took over the family construction business in 2004 after being handed the reins by his grandfather Mr John McGhee.

John McGhee had been trading in swindon as a general builder and landscaper since 1984 and worked alongside Dean since 2000 passing on the methods and building techniques that kept him in work for 20 years without placing a single advertisment!

When Dean took over the business in 2004 he decided that in order for the family business to develop further, a change was in need. Along with the a new name and identity also came the positive move to specialise in one area - Carpentry, the time old tradition of crafting practical and functional utilities from one of the earth's most natural resources, timber.

Dean had always excelled in practical and creative tasks so grasped the opportunity to learn such a skill. Whilst installing over 50 timber built decks, constructing an array of fencing and custom gates throughout a 2 year period Dean trained as a site carpenter & bench joiner gaining certification of his trade.

Red Oaks offer a wide range of carpentry and joinery services and all work is carried out by Dean who's often accompanied by an apprentice. We have full public liability and will only take on work we know can be achieved to the highest quality within the set time frame.

So if you're in need of a friendly, reliable carpenter to take on your project however big or small, then give Red Oaks the opportunity to quote and discover whats kept our family business busy for over 25 years!
